UTICA, N.Y. — The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) endorses U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna in his re-election bid for the 22nd Congressional District. The NRA-PVF also gave Hanna an “A” grade for his pro-Second Amendment voting record and public stances.
The NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is the NRA’s political action committee. The NRA-PVF ranks political candidates based on voting records, public statements and their responses to an NRA-PVF questionnaire. According to NRA-PVF, an “A” grade is reflective of a “solidly pro-gun candidate…who has supported NRA positions on key votes in elective office.”
“On behalf of our four million members, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Richard Hanna’s candidacy for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 22nd congressional district. Based on his solid and consistent pro-gun voting record, Richard has earned an A rating,” said James J. Baker, Director NRA-ILA, Federal Affairs.
“I am pleased to have the support and confidence of the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund,” Hanna said. “The Second Amendment is a fundamental American right that I am working to protect. Here in upstate New York, the responsible use of firearms means good manufacturing jobs, hunting and sporting opportunities and self-protection. I will continue to stand up for our law-abiding citizens, businesses, hunters and outdoors enthusiasts.”
Hanna’s support of the Second Amendment during his tenure in Congress includes:
· Publicly opposing misguided “micro-stamping” legislation that would hurt Mohawk Valley manufacturers and jobs.
· Co-sponsoring and voting for the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act which promotes further gun rights and the right to self-defense for responsible, law-abiding citizens by enabling holders of valid concealed weapon permits to carry a concealed weapon while traveling outside their home states as long as it is in accordance with that state’s restrictions.
· Co-sponsoring and voting for the Sportsmen’s Heritage Act which preserves the rights of sportsmen to hunt and fish on public lands and provides protection against regulations that threaten to block or limit access to hunting and fishing.
The newly-drawn 22nd Congressional District includes all of Oneida, Madison, Cortland and Chenango counties, as well as part of Oswego, Herkimer, Broome and Tioga counties. The federal primary election takes place Tuesday, June 26.
